James A. Smith of Lumberton passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016 at the Masonic Home in Burlington. He was 77. Jim was born in Carthage, Mississippi and had been a longtime resident of Lumberton. He served his country in the US AIRFORCE. Jim was very active in the Masons and the Shriners. He belonged to the Mount Holly Masonic Lodge #114, the Crescent Shrine Motorcycle Patrol, Scottish Rite in Collingswood, the Widow Sons and he was the past commander of the Legion of Honor.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 1997. Jim is survived by his daughter: Deborah Cassenti, his grandson Ian Cassenti and his longtime friend companion Marie Bareiszis. He is also survived by his cousin Denver Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 12PM at the LEE FUNERAL HOME, 317 High St., Mt. Holly. Friends may visit the family from 11AM-12PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service with honors in the Brig. General William C. Doyle’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Due to the cemetery’s restrictions on flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jim to either the American Cancer Society or to the Shriners Hospital of Philadelphia, 3551 N.
