Obituary for William Fedyna Jr.

William   Fedyna Jr.

William (Bill) Fedyna, retired Federal employee and World War II and Korean War veteran died peacefully in hospice care at the Sunrise Senior Living Residence, Frederick, MD on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was 95.
Mr. Fedyna was born in Westbury, NY in 1921. He moved to Frederick, MD in 2014, and previously lived at residences in Columbus, NJ; Delran, NJ; and Fort Lauderdale, FL. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1943-1945 and from 1950-1952 during the Korean War. He served as an aviation machinist mate and plane captain aboard the USS Cabot (CVL-28) and USS Antietam (CV-36), respectively. After his active duty service, he worked for the Brooklyn Union Gas Company in New York, at the Floyd Bennett Field Naval Air Station and at Mitchell Field, Long Island, NY. He moved to New Jersey in 1961 and worked for the next 20 years for the Department of Defense at McGuire Air Force Base located in Burlington County, NJ as a flight line crew chief. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1981 as a Chief Master Sergeant.
Mr. Fedyna’s wife of 53 years, Jean Rose Fedyna, died in 2002. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Alexandra Fedyna and his brother John. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law William James Fedyna and Cori Fedyna of Frederick, MD; daughter and son-in-law Patricia Bryant and Johnny Bryant of Medford, NJ; daughter and son-in-law Jeanne Caparbi and Michael Caparbi of Columbus, NJ; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services and interment with full military honors willl be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV),
the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation, or Carroll Hospice at www.carrollhospice.org/make-a-gift. Arrangements were made with Ed Kaelin III at the Lee Funeral Home, Mt. Holly.
