In early Oct. 1943 John Klein took his children Richard and Rosemary to St. Joseph Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to pick up his wife and new daughter, Judith Ann. At that time the hospital would not let any children inside, so John told Dick & Rosie to wait on the steps. A security guard came and ran them off of the steps. When John returned the children were gone, but soon appeared. This is what I think happened: Dick told Rosie the guard was a jerk and they would just walk around the block and hope that John came out with Mom and the baby, which did happen. To me this is Richard doing what he always did: take charge of the situation and take care of his family.
p.s. neither child was exactly thrilled with the baby, as she slept all day and cried all night!
Rest in peace Big Brother.
